Use your Border Maker Cartridge as a Punch!

Creative Memories Border Maker System makes awesome 12-inch borders but have you ever used the Border Maker Base with a Cartridge in it as a Punch?  Yes! It's so obvious but I hadn't ever thought of using it this way before (duh!)

This will be great for card making or just a little embellishment on the corner of a page or photo....like this pumpkin one I saw on CM's recent blog post:

Halloween costume memories

I have to give credit to my friend Cindy for this post today.   She inspired me with her darling Halloween home decor. I was delivering a Creative Memories order to her which included our "Bats in the Belfry " coverset (update: SOLD OUT).

I was so surprised to see that she had  years worth of tally sheets from each year of trick or treaters coming to her door! She has a record of how many trick-or-treaters came, what  the weather was that evening and of course photos of her kids in their costumes.

I  can't wait to see her completed Halloween album!!

She also inspired me by showing me one of her round coffee tables full of Halloween frames and each frame had a picture of her kids from throughout the years in their Halloween costumes. I'm not a big fan of Halloween but I did allow my children to dress up throughout the years to attend fall festivals  and when we moved to a larger neighborhood I started to join the Halloween fun by passing out candy and letting my kids trick-or-treat.

Cindy told me that many of the frames she had decorated herself so that inspired me to stop by the Goodwill on my way home and pick up a few frames of my own.  I got to work later that afternoon with Washi tape, ribbons and bows and digging up old pictures of my kids in their costumes.

Here are just a few that I was able to find. I know I have about 15 more photos that I'll need to print out but this was a good start for an afternoon project.

Thank you, Cindy, for sharing your ideas with me and giving my family a sweet tradition.  These will look great on our mantle above our fireplace or on a coffee table with a basket of candy.

Do any of you have the Magnetic Display Board Creative Memories used to sell? I still have mine hanging near the kitchen. When I was going through old pictures of Halloween costumes I found a few gems that I just had to use to decorate my board:

That's it for now. I hope you all have a safe and yummy Halloween/fall festival!

Vine Border Punch tips scrapbooking layout

Creative Memories new On The Vine Border Punch is a heavy-duty punch that will cut hundreds of cuts. My tip for you is when using this with Creative Memories decorative paper, punch through two sheets of paper at a time. That will prevent your paper from getting torn on the intricate design of the punch. Cardstock can be punched single layer.

Another tip is to layer your border strip. So first punch a border with brown cardstock,
then punch your pretty scrapbook paper border (remember 2 sheets together to make it punch better), and then layer the brown underneath the decorative.

I often get asked which adhesive to use. I recommend Creative Memories REPOSITIONABLE Tape Runner Refill. Get one of those and put it in your Tape Runner Cartridge. It comes out in a pattern of tiny dots so after applying, any excess rubs right off! It's super fast and convenient.

How to make Christmas Cards with Creative Memories All That Glitters Card Kit!

Cardmaking has never been easier with

The Kit comes in a beautiful keepsake box and includes:

Cards
Envelopes
Embellishments
Die-cuts and  Pre-cut Card Pieces
Red, Green and Gold Glitter Enamel Sticker
Roll of Gold Washi Tape
Full-Color Instructions
PLUS 170 BONUS embellishments!!

I was able to make a ton of extra card and tags!!

Here are  the 12 Christmas Cards I made with the Kit:

Then because I had so much left over with the BONUS Embellishments,
I purchased a couple of Blank Card Kits to use with my leftovers
and I also used scrap paper to make a bevy of Christmas Gift Tags!

Here are some of the ideas I came up with just using the leftovers (I didn't have to cut anything! Just stick on the leftover pieces however I wanted!):

I used the Gold Washi Tape to make a border on these ones...the Washi is so beautiful and I still have a bunch leftover!

I love the gold metallic background on these cards. Again, this is all from the leftover supplies that came in the All That Glitters Card Kit. I didn't have to use any of my own paper!

Then I went crazy making a bunch of gift tags!
So much Fun!!

So the "extra" Supplies I recommend using along with the Kit(s) are:

Foam Squares
Tape Runner
Ribbon (for the Tags)
Hole Punch (for the tags)
Personal Trimmer or Tag Punch (for the tags)

Easy paper party favor

Use leftover scraps to make these darling little treat envelopes

First start with a 6" x 6" square piece of double-sided scrapbook paper
I cut my 12x12 paper into 4 pieces but you can use your scraps too

I made a folding template from a piece of white cardstock
I keep this in my scrap bag so I can whip up some little treat envelopes anytime I need them

This is what your paper should look like after you fold it:

Next fold it in half with pockets facing out like this:

Punch a hole through the top:

Tie with Ribbon and add some treats
The best "flat" treats to use are a Tea Bag on one side
and a piece of Ghirardelli chocolate on the other side

For this example I just used the chocolates I had on hand but I prefer the Ghirardelli squares because they fit perfectly in the pocket and don't slide out!

Enjoy and
